Little is known of Warren, except that he spent most of his teens and twenties traveling with and working for Dirk XVIII. When Dirk's son, Dirk Noir XIX, started the Black Profits in 899, Warren was one of his principal co-founders.
When the surname law was passed in 904, Warren chose the name "Ambrosius," though he gave no explanation for this. It has been speculated that he named himself after Merlin Ambrosius, a character from Terran stories of King Arthur.
