Strawberries are not technically berries, but rather an aggregate fruit (more specifically, an accessory fruit), though it may be referred to as a berry for ease of reference. There are several cultivars of strawberry on Earth, including hybrids, though only one type of strawberry is known to exist on The Land. This variety, known on Earth as "Fragaria x ananassa," is a cultivated hybrid there, though it occurs naturally in this form on the Land. The fruit is simply known as a "strawberry" on the Land, since there is no other cultivar from which to differentiate it. Strawberries have been known since the time of Connor and Brigid, and have been found to grow in virtually every area of the planet which has so far been explored. It is also said to exist on every inhabited planet in the Universe.
Strawberries may be eaten plain, used as flavoring in pies, candies, and other confections, in tea, soft drinks, ice cream, milk, made into wine, jam, syrup, juice, etc.
