Brussels sprouts are named after a city on Earth. The edible part of the plant are the buds (or sprouts) which grow on the sides of a stalk, which may be two to four feet tall. The sprouts are commonly boiled or roasted, and often covered with melted butter. They may be eaten by themselves as a side dish or used in a recipe. They are also a popular topping for pizza.
